Pheasant Permit Lottery for State Park Hunting

Niagara Falls, NY, September 9, 2003…….Niagara Frontier State Park Region has announced that its annual permit lottery for the 2003 hunting season will take place on Friday, October 10.

Permits will be required for the two days expected to draw the heaviest hunting traffic.  Those days are Monday, October 20, and Saturday, October 25.

Hunting throughout the pheasant season from October 20 - November 16 is allowed at three State Parks, Golden Hill, Wilson - Tuscarora, and Joseph Davis. Permits, however, are required on October 20 and 25.

Hunters interested in entering the Permit Lottery should mail one standard size post card to:

              Niagara Frontier State Parks

              Regional Operations Office

              P. O. Box 1132

              Niagara Falls, NY  14303-0132

Postcards should include:  Applicant's name, address, telephone number, hunting license back tag number, hunt date(s) desired and park location in order of preference.

Entries will be computerized to avoid duplications.  All lottery entries must be received by noon on October 9.

As in past years stocking will be done by the DEC.  There is no fee for the permit and hunters awarded permits will have the option of naming one additional hunter on their permit.

There will be seven small game hunting permits issued for Joseph Davis State Park, fifteen at Golden Hill, and eight at Wilson-Tuscarora for each of the two days when permits are required.

Successful applicants will be notified by mail.
